Field Operations Engineering Intern

About the role#

Mortenson is seeking a Field Operations Engineering Intern for the Fall 2026 term. This full-time, paid internship provides hands-on experience in the construction industry, focusing on operational support and project management. Interns will work on-site in Nashville, Tennessee, for a minimum of 12 weeks from August through November 2026.

What you'll do#

• Champion zero injury safety requirements.
• Manage construction change orders, shop drawings, submittals, and RFI processes.
• Assist with purchase orders and subcontractor agreements.
• Participate in construction sequencing, schedule maintenance, and project meetings.
• Support bid package preparation and material procurement.
• Utilize industry-leading software to assist in construction processes.
• Coordinate with subcontractors, material suppliers, architects, and owners.

What you'll need#

• Current pursuit of an undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Architecture, Environmental Engineering, or Construction Management.
• Willingness to be mobile or relocate as needed.
• Access to reliable transportation and a current driver’s license.
• Comfort working in environments with exposure to dirt, heat, noise, and dust.
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
