The Litzsinger Road Ecology Center (LREC) is seeking a seasonal intern for the Fall 2026 term. This full-time, paid position involves assisting in the restoration and management of 39 acres of prairie, woodland, and urban creek environments. The role requires a 40-hour work week over a 10-week period, located on-site in Ladue, Missouri.
What you'll do#
- Perform prairie and woodland restoration alongside staff and volunteers.
- Propagate native plants and collect seeds.
- Manage invasive plant species using manual, mechanical, and herbicide applications.
- Conduct ecological monitoring, including stream water quality, macroinvertebrate sampling, and vegetation surveys.
- Operate power equipment and hand tools.
- Provide database support and data entry using Microsoft Office.
- Interact with volunteers, partner schools, and visitors.
What you'll need#
- A strong interest in the outdoors, ecology, natural history, and restoration.
- Ability to work with diverse audiences, including children and adults.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- A valid driver's license.
- Ability to obtain and maintain First Aid/CPR certification.
- Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting up to 50 pounds, walking on uneven terrain, and working in varied weather conditions, including high heat and humidity.
- Adherence to all health and safety guidelines.
