About the role#
The Athlete Availability Intern joins the High-Performance Department to support the application of sport science and athlete monitoring. This role provides hands-on experience in a high-performance environment, focusing on data-informed decision-making and athlete development across multiple disciplines.
What you'll do#
- Assist High Performance staff with the setup, operation, and execution of performance testing and athlete monitoring procedures.
- Support data collection for athlete assessments including GPS, force plates, cardiorespiratory fitness testing, HRV monitoring, sprint speed, force-velocity profiling, VALD Dynamo testing, and motion capture.
- Follow established testing protocols to ensure consistent, valid, and reliable data collection.
- Execute strategies related to athlete readiness and workload monitoring.
- Gain exposure to various technologies and strategies regarding physical capacity and athlete development.
What you'll need#
- Must be in the final semester of an undergraduate degree or have recently completed a bachelor's degree in Sport Science, Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Biology, Physiology, Strength and Conditioning, Athletic Training, or a related field.
- Knowledge of Anatomy and Physiology, Exercise Physiology, Strength and Conditioning, Sports Medicine, Motor Control, or Neurophysiology.
- Prior experience utilizing applied technologies for player performance assessment and monitoring, including data visualization tools like Excel, Power BI, Tableau, or AMS.
- General knowledge of baseball is preferred.
- Applicable experience in a baseball-related capacity is strongly preferred.
