About the role#
Metropolis Technologies is seeking a detail-oriented Tax Intern to join the Tax Department. This role offers hands-on experience in a high-volume corporate environment that processes monthly sales, use, and parking taxes, as well as complex partnership and corporate tax returns. You will work within a team environment to support essential financial operations and gain exposure to state and federal tax compliance.
What you'll do#
- Assist with gathering financial information and preparing monthly sales, use, and parking tax returns.
- Help set up structured workpapers for sales, use, and income tax returns.
- Enter journal entries and prepare monthly account reconciliations while researching reconciling items.
- Support the team by compiling critical information and documents for sales, use, and income tax audits.
- Gain exposure to state and federal corporate income tax compliance.
- Collaborate with the finance team on various strategic projects and initiatives.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (Junior standing preferred) with a minimum GPA of 3.3/4.0.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Knowledge of and experience using AI software tools to optimize workflows.
- Exceptional organizational skills and sharp attention to detail.
- Ability to commit to a minimum of 20 hours per week, with flexibility up to 40 hours per week during business hours.
