About the role#
This six-week paid summer internship provides high school students with hands-on experience in cruise terminal operations at the Carnival Cruise Line terminal. Interns will work alongside the guest port services team to support the turnaround day experience, gaining exposure to both the operational and customer-facing aspects of the maritime transportation industry.
What you'll do#
- Greet and assist guests navigating inside and outside the cruise terminals.
- Guide guest traffic flow through secure areas, walkways, check-in zones, and gangways.
- Monitor luggage areas, including U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) zones.
- Provide guests with boarding information and assist with check-in processes, including document review.
- Support disembarking guests with luggage inquiries and lost luggage forms.
- Escort guests requiring wheelchair assistance and those needing additional documentation support.
- Shadow supervisors to learn about daily reporting, back-office responsibilities, and team oversight.
- Utilize FIRST Customer Service standards to ensure a professional and positive guest experience.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a High School student, aged 17 years or older.
- Ability to secure a TWIC card based on location requirements.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Basic mathematical skills for handling cash payments and processing credit cards.
- A passion for customer service and guest satisfaction.
- Ability to stand for the duration of a 4-8 hour shift and perform physical tasks such as pushing wheelchairs or lifting up to 20 lbs.
- Proficiency with basic data input on laptops, tablets, or handheld devices.
