Medical Assistant Intern - FT

About the role#

The Medical Assistant Intern role at Mesa View Regional Hospital is a full-time, paid position based in Mesquite, Nevada. This internship follows a rolling term and requires on-site attendance. Candidates should be pursuing studies in Nursing, Health Administration, or Biomedical Sciences.

What you'll do#

• Perform assigned medical assistant and administrative tasks to support patient care.
• Collaborate with Customer Service Representatives and physicians to manage scheduling and ensure high-quality patient care.
• Prepare patients for examinations and treatments by recording histories, vital signs, medication history, allergies, and immunizations.
• Administer injections and perform phlebotomies.
• Prepare and maintain exam and treatment rooms, including the sterilization of instruments and equipment.
• Document procedures and patient education materials in the electronic medical record (EMR).
• Assist with lab and X-ray result retrieval and ensure diagnostic orders are processed daily.
• Maintain patient files, manage office and clinical supplies, and provide billing information to the appropriate department.
• Adhere to HIPAA privacy policies and maintain strict patient confidentiality.

What you'll need#

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Commitment to taking the Medical Assistant certification exam within three months of completing the internship program.
