The Health Policy Intern will support the McDermott+ team in developing policy insights, analyzing challenges, and advancing business solutions for clients. This role provides exposure to legislative and regulatory developments, including Medicare and Medicaid payment policy, while offering a practical understanding of the healthcare policy process in Washington.
What you'll do#
- Attend and summarize Congressional hearings, MedPAC, MACPAC, and policy stakeholder meetings.
- Track key federal and state health care legislative initiatives and policy developments.
- Develop fact sheets, testimony transcripts, infographics, and other materials for client and public distribution.
- Conduct research on health policy topics such as Medicaid waivers and legislative activity.
- Provide timely written updates on breaking legislation and pressing industry issues.
- Assist with market access and data projects to support team members.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Master of Public Health, Master of Public Policy, or Master in Health Administration program.
- A strong interest in health policy.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and demonstrate high attention to detail.
- Experience with data analytics is preferred but not required.
- Ability to dedicate at least 24 hours per week.
Location & details#
- Location: Washington, DC (On-site).
- Term: Fall 2026 (late August through late December 2026).
- Schedule: Candidates must be available Monday mornings and all day Tuesday through Thursday (9:00 AM – 5:00 PM). Monday and Friday hours offer flexibility and will be mutually agreed upon.
- Compensation: $20 – $25 per hour.
