PR + Social Media Intern

About the role#

The PR + Social Media Intern will serve as a digital concierge for Mall of America, engaging with guests through online channels and in-person interactions. This role focuses on delivering content, managing community feedback, and supporting media relations to promote the mall as a premier retail and entertainment complex. This is a full-time, paid internship running from September 2026 through February 2027.

What you'll do#

• Monitor and engage with the community across various social media channels.
• Assist with content creation, including copywriting, photography, and video production.
• Monitor industry, influencer, and media trends that impact the Mall.
• Manage community interactions by responding to guest feedback and maintaining page guidelines.
• Research and assist in the distribution of media materials such as press releases and advisories.
• Support day-to-day media requests and assist media crews onsite.
• Coordinate efforts to gain media coverage for events, new tenants, and attractions.
• Ensure all communications consistently reflect the Mall of America voice and tone.

What you'll need#

• Must be at least 18 years of age with a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Currently pursuing or holding a degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or Liberal Arts.
• Strong knowledge of social media platforms including Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, X, Snapchat, and YouTube.
• Familiarity with social media tools for business purposes.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• A customer-focused mindset and the ability to work both independently and within a team.
• Interest in emerging technology platforms and strong computer skills.

Location & details#

• Location: Bloomington, Minnesota.
• Modality: On-site.
• Schedule: Monday through Friday, 9:00am – 5:30pm, with occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays required for events.
