SkillBridge Driver Operator Intern

About the role#

MacroSource LLC is seeking a SkillBridge Driver Operator Intern to support the delivery and on-site production of phosphate fertilizer for agriculture centers across the Midwest. This 11-week internship program is designed for participants in the Department of Defense SkillBridge program. The role involves a mix of equipment operation, site setup, and vehicle maintenance. While driving accounts for approximately 20% of the work, interns will travel to various job sites as part of a four-person crew.

What you'll do#

• Conduct DOT inspections and complete driver reports to ensure safe transportation.
• Set up, operate, and pack up specialized equipment at customer sites.
• Perform basic maintenance tasks on trucks and production equipment, including replacing worn components.
• Maintain service log-books for all vehicles and equipment.
• Document inspections and ensure all processes comply with safety standards, including Process Safety Management (PSM) guidelines.
• Prepare railcars for unloading and return transport.
• Utilize Microsoft Excel for documentation and reporting.

What you'll need#

• CDL A License is required (the internship includes four weeks of training at a third-party commercial driving school to obtain this license).
• Mechanical and maintenance proficiency.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• English proficiency for safe and effective communication in a safety-sensitive environment.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in confined spaces or at heights while following safety guidelines.
• Ability to wear required safety gear, including hard hats, safety glasses, and steel-toe or sturdy leather boots.
• Successful completion of a drug test, background check, and motor vehicle report.
