As an NPI (New Product Introduction) Program Management Intern, you will support the planning and execution of hardware builds throughout the development cycle. You will work alongside cross-functional engineering teams to gain exposure to the product development process, from early development through validation.
What you'll do#
- Support the planning and coordination of engineering builds (EVT, DVT, PVT) by tracking parts availability, BOM alignment, and build readiness.
- Maintain build trackers, action item logs, and status dashboards to ensure team alignment and adherence to schedules.
- Attend engineering and build readiness reviews to capture notes, open actions, and key decisions.
- Track build issues and follow up on defect closure across hardware, firmware, and mechanical engineering teams.
- Coordinate scheduling and logistics across internal teams, contract manufacturers, and lab facilities.
- Assist with documentation, process improvements, and operational tasks for the NPI team.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operations, or a related field.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to communicate effectively with engineers and stakeholders across various functions and levels.
- Proficiency in productivity and project tracking tools such as Excel, Google Sheets, Jira, or Smartsheet.
- Eagerness to learn hardware development processes, NPI fundamentals, and program management practices.
- Prior coursework or internship exposure to manufacturing, supply chain, or product development is preferred.
- Familiarity with hardware development concepts such as BOMs, ECOs, or build cycles.
