About the role#
The Student Nurse PCT contributes to high-quality patient care by working alongside the healthcare team. This role involves performing basic nursing care tasks and supporting unit operations under the guidance of assigned nurses.
What you'll do#
- Provide direct patient care with a focus on personal hygiene, comfort, and safety.
- Assist with patient admission and discharge processes, including gathering belongings and transporting patients.
- Collect and record patient data such as vital signs, intake and output, and specimens.
- Assist patients with mobilization and positioning as ordered.
- Monitor patients and report pain or changes in condition to the assigned nurse.
- Process medical staff orders and communicate urgent requests to care providers.
- Transport medications in compliance with security policies.
- Maintain unit supplies and equipment levels.
- Participate in the orientation of new staff and serve as a mentor when requested.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited registered nursing program.
- Successful completion of the first year of a clinical nursing program.
- Completion of at least one clinical semester.
- Valid CNA certification through the Maryland Board of Nursing.
- American Heart Association HealthCare Provider BLS certification.
