About the role#
Lumentum is seeking an Optical Verification Technician for a co-op position within the R&D Design Verification and Characterization team in Ottawa. This role focuses on improving test and measurement techniques for active optical components and requires a strong analytical approach to hardware and software troubleshooting.
What you'll do#
- Apply expertise in optics to refine test and measurement techniques.
- Characterize critical optical parameters using established test methods.
- Write and implement automated test code and scripts to enhance test coverage and result quality.
- Analyze and characterize optical, hardware, and software failures.
- Report identified failures to design teams using internal tools and processes.
- Contribute to the ongoing improvement of team processes and test execution.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a post-secondary program for Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Demonstrated technical expertise in active optical components.
- Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills.
- Solid understanding of test plans, test execution, and bug reporting.
- Basic understanding of hardware concepts.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience in software development, instrumentation, and automation is considered an asset.
- Ability to pass a background check.
