This internship is based in Brooklyn, New York, at the BATWorks location in the Brooklyn Army Terminal. It is a part-time, temporary role designed for individuals pursuing careers in the climate and clean energy sector. You will report to the SVP of BATWorks and collaborate closely with the Events and Ecosystem Coordinator and the Pilots Associate.
What you'll do#
- Research: Prepare a comprehensive report on the major permits required for deploying clean energy technologies across New York State, including battery energy storage, EV chargers, heat pumps, and district heating.
- Event Marketing: Draft event copy, email communications, and promotional materials for newsletters and social media that connect to state decarbonization goals. Participate in planning meetings with partners and manage event tracking in Asana.
- Event Logistics: Coordinate vendor sourcing, assist with catering setup, manage attendee check-ins, and provide on-site support during events, including setup and takedown.
- Data and Reporting: Track event attendance and metrics, and assist in maintaining the BATWorks analytics dashboard.
- Community Outreach: Represent BATWorks at community events and contribute a blog post regarding clean energy initiatives.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a university degree with a focus on a career in climate and clean energy. Relevant fields include Environmental Engineering, Business Administration, Political Science, Communications, Public Health, Economics, Sociology, or Marketing.
- Ability to work 15 hours per week in person at the Brooklyn location on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
- A background in or a strong interest in climate and clean energy.
- Spoken Spanish language skills are strongly preferred.
- Interest in or familiarity with the Sunset Park neighborhood is a plus.

- Schedule: Part-time, 15 hours per week
- Compensation: This is a paid position at $25.40 per hour.
