Mechanical Engineering Intern

About the role#

LIGHTSPEED STUDIOS is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern to work on projects at the intersection of mechanical design, hardware development, and embedded systems. This role involves contributing to the design, prototyping, and testing of innovative mechanical and electromechanical systems within a collaborative, multidisciplinary engineering team.

What you'll do#

• Participate in the design and development of mechanical components and systems.
• Assist in the assembly, integration, and testing of mechanical hardware with embedded systems and electronic components.
• Gain hands-on experience building and iterating on physical prototypes through fabrication methods.
• Contribute to the development and execution of test plans to validate system performance and reliability.
• Utilize C++ programming for tasks related to system control, data acquisition, or hardware interfacing.
• Operate within a Linux development environment.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, assembly instructions, and test reports.

What you'll need#

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
• Solid understanding of mechanical engineering principles.
• Proficiency in C++ programming.
• Familiarity with the Linux operating system.
• Experience with embedded systems.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
