As a Manufacturing Engineering Intern, you will own the development of assembly and integration work instructions. You will spend significant time on the production floor observing builds, translating those processes into repeatable instructions, and capturing time study data. This role is foundational to the production organization, as you will help establish systems and processes rather than maintaining existing ones. You will report to the Manufacturing Engineering team and work closely with production technicians, supervisors, and quality staff.
What you'll do#
- Develop, write, and refine work instructions for assembly and integration processes.
- Conduct time studies to capture cycle times and process data across build stations.
- Observe builds on the factory floor to capture accurate process steps, sequences, and standards.
- Validate instructions against actual builds and revise them based on technician feedback.
- Organize and summarize time study data to support line balancing and capacity planning.
- Document tooling, fixtures, and key build steps to support clear visual instructions.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with CAD software.
- Familiarity with the Google software suite.
- Strong written communication skills with an eye for clarity, sequence, and detail.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and translate physical processes into written steps.
- Comfort capturing and organizing data with high attention to accuracy.
- A hands-on aptitude and a genuine interest in how products are physically built.
