Math Intern

About the role#

Light & Wonder is seeking a Math Intern to join the team for the Summer 2026 term. This internship provides an introduction to the gaming industry while supporting the development of math models that drive slot game play. This is a paid, full-time position with the potential for conversion to a full-time Associate Mathematician role upon completion.

What you'll do#

• Support the math design team in creative decision-making by developing tools and datasets to analyze game math attributes.
• Collaborate with mathematicians to leverage AI in creating sophisticated tools for analyzing complex mathematical game models.
• Assist the team in utilizing a data-driven approach to game design.

What you'll need#

• Enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's program in mathematics, combinatorics, statistics, or a related field.
• Proficiency in mathematics, specifically probability and statistics.
• Experience with Excel, including the use of linking and formulas to calculate probabilities and describe complex events.
• Programming skills in C++, Python, or similar languages.
• Experience using AI.
• Strong communication skills, creativity, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

• Location: Chicago, Illinois.
• Work Modality: Hybrid, with four days per week required on-site.
