As a Pharmacist Intern at Legacy Community Health, you will work under the guidance of experienced pharmacists to deliver patient-focused care. This role involves participating in clinical services, immunization workflows, and community health initiatives across our pharmacy sites.
What you'll do#
- Provide patient counseling and medication education under pharmacist supervision.
- Support medication therapy optimization, including drug utilization review and clinical screening.
- Assist with adherence programs such as medication synchronization and refill alignment.
- Engage in point-of-care and community-based health services, including screenings and smoking cessation support.
- Administer immunizations and support related workflows according to state law and Legacy protocols.
- Participate in the end-to-end dispensing workflow, including intake, data entry, and prescription preparation.
- Resolve third-party rejections and coverage issues.
- Support controlled substance stewardship, compliance, and inventory management.
- Complete an annual quality initiative or research project aligned with Legacy priorities.
- Contribute to pharmacy leadership through audits, trackers, and workflow optimization.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a PharmD program or status as a PharmD graduate eligible to obtain/maintain intern status per state requirements.
- Valid pharmacist intern license from the Board of Pharmacy of the State of Texas.
- Current and active BLS/CPR certification.
- Strong computer skills, specifically with Windows, Excel, and accounting software.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Bilingual (Spanish) language skills are preferred.
Location & details#
- Location: Houston, Texas.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Monday-Friday (7:30 AM – 8:00 PM) and Saturday (7:30 AM – 5:00 PM).
- Position Type: Full-time, paid internship.
