Intern, Maintenance Mech

About the role#

The Manufacturing Maintenance Intern works alongside maintenance technicians and engineering staff to support facility and equipment reliability. This role provides hands-on exposure to maintenance practices through rotation across multiple departments to understand machinery, processes, and operational needs. The goal is to build a foundation in maintaining and troubleshooting manufacturing equipment.

What you'll do#

• Assist maintenance personnel with daily repair, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance of manufacturing equipment.
• Support scheduled maintenance activities, including inspections, lubrication, and part replacements.
• Observe and participate in diagnosing mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
• Learn the proper use of tools, equipment, and safety procedures in a manufacturing environment.
• Assist in documenting maintenance activities, work orders, and equipment history.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment uptime and efficiency.
• Maintain clean and organized work areas to support safe operations.

What you'll need#

• Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of a technical, mechanical, electrical, or industrial program, or equivalent experience.
• Strong interest in manufacturing and equipment maintenance.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn.
• Ability to follow safety protocols and work in a team-oriented environment.
• Good communication and problem-solving skills.

Location & details#

• Location: Durham, North Carolina.
• Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM.
• Status: Full-time, paid internship.
