About the role#
L'Alliance New York is seeking an Accounting & Administrative Finance Intern to join the finance team. This role provides hands-on experience in nonprofit financial operations under the supervision of the Controller. Interns will gain exposure to budgeting, financial reporting, and payroll administration while supporting the organization's mission-driven work. This position is unpaid and intended for students seeking academic credit.
What you'll do#
- Assist with daily accounting tasks, including invoice processing and expense tracking.
- Prepare financial documentation for monthly closing activities and reconciliations.
- Maintain organized digital and physical financial records.
- Support payroll-related administrative processes and assist with the preparation of routine financial and tax documentation.
- Conduct research and prepare financial summaries, reports, or schedules for various projects.
- Provide administrative support to the finance team, including meeting preparation and office coordination.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Ability to complete the internship for academic credit.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and time-management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive financial information.
