User Research Co-op

About the role#

The User Research Co-op will contribute to the team by supporting research studies and analyzing data to help shape player experiences. This is a 4-month, full-time, paid contract position running from September to December 2026. You will receive mentorship from the user research team and gain insight into the game development process.

What you'll do#

• Assist in data collection through interviews, usability studies, and survey analysis.
• Observe participants and take notes during research sessions.
• Code video and interview content for analysis.
• Assist in setting up and preparing research studies.
• Support participant recruitment efforts.
• Gain insights into player motivations and develop an understanding of game user research.
• Collaborate with the research team and build professional relationships.
• Learn about new qualitative and quantitative research methodologies.

What you'll need#

• Currently pursuing a Masters or PhD in Psychology, Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Human Factors, or a similar program.
• Knowledge of qualitative user research and analysis methods.
• Competency in quantitative research and data analysis, including descriptive statistics.
• Familiarity with Excel or similar tools for generating quantitative findings.
• Understanding of grounded theory.
• Ability to manage and switch between multiple projects.
• Strong communication skills, including comfort with public speaking and presentation design.
• A passion for games.

• Location: Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
• Modality: Fully on-site at the Downtown Vancouver studio.
• Term: Fall 2026 (September to December).
