The Judicial Branch of Arizona in Maricopa County is seeking a Translation Intern to support the Law Library Resource Center (LLRC). This position focuses on the translation, editing, and proofreading of legal forms and self-help materials to improve access to court services. This is a paid, part-time internship scheduled for the Fall 2026 and Winter 2027 terms, with a commitment of 8 hours per week for 32 weeks.
What you'll do#
- Translate court forms, instructions, and LLRC materials from English to Spanish.
- Proofread and edit translated documents to ensure grammatical accuracy.
- Research parallel documents and utilize legal dictionaries, glossaries, and bilingual databases.
- Maintain project logs, track incoming translation requests, and report on project progress.
- Organize and save project files according to established procedures.
- Use computer-assisted translation tools and translation memory assets to maintain consistency.
- Collaborate with the LLRC translator and participate in feedback sessions to improve translation quality.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in or recent graduation (within the last 12 months) from a graduate or undergraduate translation or interpretation program with a Spanish/English combination.
- Completion of at least two years of college-level coursework in Spanish translation for current students.
- Native or near-native proficiency in both English and Spanish, both written and oral.
- Proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Teams.
- Knowledge of standard clerical practices, including filing, record maintenance, and research preparation.
- Ability to operate a computer to enter and retrieve data and maintain effective working relationships.

- Location: Phoenix, Arizona (On-site).
- Schedule: Fall 2026 and Winter 2027 terms.
- Work Modality: On-site, with potential for hybrid work eligibility based on departmental needs.
