The AI Summer Intern program is an 8-week intensive experience where participants join either the Infrastructure & Data or Product & Engagement project pods. Working under the guidance of a project sponsor, interns apply agentic AI tools and frameworks to address real-world internal challenges within the healthcare technology sector. This role is designed for self-starters interested in how AI is reshaping software development.
What you'll do#
- Design, build, and iterate on AI-powered tools and workflows using platforms such as Claude Code and MCP.
- Contribute to data pipeline design, schema validation, and mobile-first user experience prototyping.
- Participate in daily stand-ups, peer code reviews, and weekly sponsor check-ins to manage progress and blockers.
- Produce clear technical documentation and perform agent-led stress testing to ensure prototype quality.
- Present final project outcomes to leadership and guests at the InVita AI Summer Showcase.
What you'll need#
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- High school senior accepted to a college or university pursuing a computer-related major, or a currently enrolled college student in a computer-related program.
- Demonstrated experience using Large Language Models in a self-directed, problem-solving context.
- Genuine interest in agentic AI, software engineering, or healthcare technology.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate ideas to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work independently within a structured schedule.
Location & details#
- Location: Baltimore, Maryland.
- Modality: On-site, Tuesday through Thursday.
- Term: Summer 2026 (June 22 – August 14, 2026).
- Schedule: 24 hours per week (8 hours per day).
- Compensation: $22.00 per hour.
- Eligible majors include Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Computer Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Logistics, Cybersecurity, and Health Administration.
