Software Developer Intern

About the role#

Intact Insurance Specialty Solutions is seeking a Software Developer Intern for the Fall 2026 term. Based in Quincy, Massachusetts, this full-time, paid internship offers hands-on experience within a hybrid work environment. You will join the Dewar team to support project management, software development, and application administration tasks over the course of three to four months.

What you'll do#

• Contribute to the design, development, testing, and deployment of web applications using .NET, Angular, and SQL.
• Build and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and database structures to support reporting and application functionality.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve software issues in collaboration with the development team.
• Create and enhance Power BI dashboards to provide actionable business insights.
• Participate in Agile development practices, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
• Translate user requirements into technical solutions and maintain documentation for systems and processes.

What you'll need#

• Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Information Systems, or a related technical field.
• Foundational knowledge of programming languages including C#, JavaScript/TypeScript, or SQL.
• Familiarity with web development frameworks and tools such as .NET, Angular, and Visual Studio.
• Understanding of relational databases and basic data modeling concepts.
• Exposure to version control systems like Git or GitHub.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

• Compensation: $21/hour for undergraduate students; $23/hour for graduate students.
• Status: Full-time.
