HTX Labs is seeking a Skillbridge Intern to serve as an Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE). This role focuses on designing, implementing, and maintaining secure cloud and edge infrastructure to support Department of War (DoW) workloads. You will work closely with the DevSecOps team to translate security requirements into technical implementations across Microsoft Azure Government and disconnected environments. Approximately 15% of this role is dedicated to AI Security Engineering, ensuring AI-enabled capabilities are governed and deployed securely.
What you'll do#
- Harden and maintain secure cloud and edge infrastructure supporting DoW workloads.
- Partner with the DevSecOps Engineer to build secure CI/CD pipelines using modern software delivery and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices.
- Implement Zero Trust principles, including RBAC, workload identity, network segmentation, private networking, and least privilege.
- Engineer and maintain security controls for cloud IAM, WAF, container security, runtime protection, and Kubernetes policy enforcement.
- Automate security validation, compliance monitoring, and configuration management using PowerShell, Python, Bash, Azure CLI, and YAML.
- Implement and maintain NIST SP 800-53 Rev. 5, RMF, CMMC Level 2, STIG, and DISA security controls.
- Support ATO packages, Cybersecurity Impact Analyses, SSP updates, and POA&M remediation.
- Secure AI-enabled applications and LLMs by mitigating threats such as prompt injection and data leakage, while performing AI threat modeling.
What you'll need#
- U.S. Citizen.
- 5+ years of professional experience in cybersecurity, cloud engineering, DevSecOps, or information systems security engineering.
- Proficiency with Azure or Azure Government, Kubernetes, Linux administration, networking, scripting, and Infrastructure as Code.
- Experience implementing RMF, CMMC, STIGs, or other government cybersecurity frameworks.
- Strong troubleshooting and communication skills.
- Educational background in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering.
Location & details#
- This is a remote position based in the United States.
- This is a full-time internship with a rolling start date.
- This internship is not paid through HTX Labs; participants are compensated through the DoW per their Skillbridge Agreement.
