    About the role#

    This co-op position involves working with a multidisciplinary engineering team on the development and maintenance of medical imaging equipment. You will contribute to mechanical design and change management processes while gaining exposure to the product development lifecycle.

    What you'll do#

    • Create 3D mechanical CAD designs and 2D mechanical drawings.
    • Prototype and test mechanical concepts using traditional machining and additive manufacturing, such as 3D printing.
    • Perform mechanical analysis of concepts and proposed design changes.
    • Draft technical reports to document findings.
    • Support lifecycle changes for end-of-life component replacements.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional team members to provide rapid feedback on design solutions.

    What you'll need#

    • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program, preferably in Mechanical Engineering, with at least one semester remaining after the co-op.
    • Status as a rising junior or rising senior.
    • At least 2 years of experience with 3D solid modeling tools, specifically SolidWorks and PDM Works.
    • Proficiency in 3D fabrication techniques, including 3D printing, machining, and sheet metal work.
    • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering design fundamentals and drafting principles.
    • Ability to work as a self-directed, resourceful problem-solver.

    Location & details#

    • Location: Newark, Delaware.
    • Modality: Full-time (40 hours per week), on-site.
    • Term: September 2026 – March 2027.
    • Compensation: $26 – $28 per hour, based on class standing and function.
    • Note: Student housing, relocation assistance, and housing stipends are not provided.
