Hernandez Consulting & Construction is seeking a JD/MBA student to support the Chief Financial Officer and General Counsel. This role focuses on the intersection of corporate finance, legal review, contract administration, and business operations within the construction and government contracting industry. You will work directly with senior leadership on high-level decision support, risk management, and internal controls.
What you'll do#
- Review, organize, and summarize contracts, agreements, and corporate documents.
- Support legal and compliance research regarding government contracting, corporate governance, and business operations.
- Assist with financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting.
- Prepare summaries, memos, and recommendations for internal decision-making.
- Support contract administration, document management, and internal process improvements.
- Evaluate financial, legal, and operational considerations related to company initiatives, regulations, and risk management.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a JD/MBA program.
- Excellent writing, research, and communication skills.
- Strong analytical judgment and attention to detail.
- Ability to review legal and business documents to identify key issues.
- Proficiency with Excel and comfort working with financial information.
- Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and handle confidential information professionally.
- Interest in corporate law, finance, government contracting, construction, compliance, or business operations.
- Prior exposure to contracts, accounting, finance, or government contracting is a plus, as is familiarity with veteran-owned business programs.
Location & details#
- Location: New Orleans, Louisiana (On-site).
- Term: Summer 2026, full-time, with the possibility of continuing part-time during the academic year.
- Compensation: $25/hour.
