Clinical Extern, Physiotherapy

About the role#

Hennick Bridgepoint Hospital, Sinai Health is seeking a Clinical Extern to join the Physiotherapy team. This temporary part-time role operates as an unregulated care provider, working under the direct supervision of registered Physiotherapy professionals. You will provide safe, competent, and evidence-informed care while adhering to the practice standards of the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario and Sinai Health.

What you'll do#

• Provide direct patient care, including transfers, turning and repositioning, ambulation, and exercises.
• Manage patient mobility lines, tubes, and oxygen equipment during movement.
• Assist with therapeutic group activities and activities of daily living.
• Perform administrative tasks, including documentation on flow sheets or the EMR, which must be reviewed and co-signed by a supervising therapist.
• Communicate with the interprofessional team, attend safety huddles, and report patient status and observations.
• Maintain a clean and safe patient environment and respond to call bells.
• Gather and prepare equipment, such as mobility aids and wheelchairs.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in an accredited MScPT program, with the status of not yet graduated.
• Successful completion of at least one fieldwork or clinical internship.
• Eligibility to participate in an externship placement and good standing with your academic institution.
• Evidence of safe patient handling skills.
• Proven ability to follow organizational policies regarding privacy and confidentiality.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively in an interprofessional team.
• Previous clinical placement or work experience in a hospital or rehabilitation setting is considered an asset.

Location & details#

• Location: Toronto, ON, Canada.
• Term: Summer 2026 (anticipated start date August 17, 2026).
• Work Modality: On-site.
• Schedule: Temporary part-time (up to 12 months) requiring availability for evenings, weekends, and at least one shift per week.
• Pay: $24.22 per hour.
