About the role#
Healthier Mississippi People is seeking a Student X-Ray Technician to join the team in Canton, Mississippi. This is a paid, full-time, on-site internship position with a rolling start date. You will support the clinical team by administering radiographic exams while maintaining equipment and patient records.
What you'll do#
- Administer radiographic exams under the supervision of a radiologist or physician.
- Prepare examination rooms and position patients to ensure optimal image quality.
- Configure x-ray equipment and adjust controls for exposure factors like time and distance.
- Apply patient-shielding techniques and use beam-restrictive devices to minimize radiation exposure.
- Explain procedures to patients to reduce anxiety and ensure cooperation.
- Maintain stock supplies and perform office duties such as scheduling, record keeping, and processing film.
What you'll need#
- Must have completed at least one semester of training at an accredited Radiologic Technology program and be a student in good standing.
- Knowledge of x-ray principles, procedures, and safety standards.
- Understanding of the physical and operational characteristics of radiologic equipment.
- Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with patients and staff.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including frequent lifting of over 100 pounds, constant bending, and reaching.
- Preferred majors include Biomedical Engineering, Health Administration, Nursing, or Public Health.
