About the role#
The Respiratory Care Student provides respiratory care to inpatients based on acuity, age, and required treatment. This role involves orientation to the Acuity Adaptable unit and the Respiratory Care Equipment Room to support patient care and equipment management.
What you'll do#
- Provide respiratory care in the Acuity Adaptable unit through assessment, critical thinking, and monitoring.
- Exercise multidisciplinary communication and respond to emergent situations in assigned areas.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and timely documentation of all patient care administered.
- Clean and assemble respiratory care equipment.
- Submit accurate equipment charges via the electronic medical record.
- Administer respiratory care as permitted by student licensure.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an AMA approved Respiratory Care degree program.
- Current BLS certification and completion of organizational required annual education.
- Ability to obtain a Respiratory Care Student Permit from the state of Indiana within 60 days of hire.
- Knowledge of cardiopulmonary anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, and relevant treatment modalities.
- Ability to organize duties, prioritize tasks, and function effectively under stress.
