This internship provides an opportunity to contribute to electrical engineering design and test projects for electric vehicle prototypes. Working within a small power electronics team, you will gain hands-on experience with automotive engineering, vehicle systems, and product design processes during an active product development stage.
What you'll do#
- Perform sizing and design of power electronics components, including inverters, on-board battery chargers, and DC-DC converters.
- Conduct hands-on testing, bring-up, and validation of power converters and motor controllers.
- Execute mixed-signal PCB design according to IPC and IEC standards.
- Perform worst-case circuit analysis on critical system areas.
- Run circuit simulations using LTspice and PLECS.
- Collaborate with mechanical designers to integrate electrical devices into product designs.
- Write technical reports and present findings at design reviews.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD program with a focus on Power Electronics.
- Strong understanding of analog and digital electronic circuits, power supply design, magnetics design, and control theory.
- Prior coursework and experience with power electronics and high-voltage automotive systems.
- Practical experience in electrical fabrication, troubleshooting, and basic PCB layout.
- Experience setting up and using data acquisition systems.

- Location: Garden Grove, California.
- Modality: On-site (4 days per week).
- Term: Fall 2026.
- Status: Full-time (40 hours per week).
- Compensation: Paid position ($25-35 USD per hour).
- Relocation: A $1,000 stipend is available for interns residing more than 50 miles from the facility.
