The Student Counsellor provides personal counselling and guidance services to students at Nunavut Arctic College. Reporting to the Director of Learner Services, this role focuses on promoting mental wellness for students and their families while implementing programming designed to support student success.
What you'll do#
- Ensure students have opportunities to achieve personal and professional success.
- Develop mental health workshops covering topics such as stress management, team building, and quality of life.
- Provide distance counselling support to regional Community Learning Centres.
- Assist in the delivery of student development and personal life management programs.
- Liaise with community agencies, high schools, and post-secondary institutions.
- Organize and participate in Student Success Week.
What you'll need#
- An undergraduate degree in psychology, mental health, counselling, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in a counselling role, preferably within a post-secondary environment.
- A satisfactory Criminal Record Check.
- A clear Vulnerable Sector Check.
