About the role#
As a Manufacturing Engineer Co-Op, you will work alongside the engineering team to develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods. This role involves gaining hands-on knowledge of product design, fabrication processes, and production equipment. You will assist in maintaining and upgrading tooling, while supporting assembly improvements through lean manufacturing and quality control standards. You will also capture production data to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
What you'll do#
- Analyze and plan workforce utilization, space requirements, and workflow while designing equipment layouts for maximum efficiency.
- Develop and implement recommendations for tool redesigns and changes to materials or methods.
- Research manufacturing trends and new technologies to recommend process improvements.
- Investigate manufacturing problems and recommend effective solutions.
- Facilitate Lean Manufacturing initiatives and participate in continuous improvement projects.
- Investigate and prepare requests for capital improvements.
- Review health, safety, and environmental standards.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an Engineering or Engineering Technology student (Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, or Civil Engineering).
- Strong organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and CAD software such as Solidworks or AutoCAD.
- Ability to independently move about the factory and lift up to 50 pounds.
