About the role#
The Startup Operator Apprentice role provides hands-on experience in the daily operations of a space robotics company. This position is designed for individuals who want to learn how a startup functions by taking ownership of essential tasks. You will start with broad responsibilities across office management, accounting, purchasing, and people operations, with the opportunity to take on deeper responsibilities as you demonstrate your capabilities. There are no intern-only projects or shadowing assignments; you will work on real tasks that the company requires.
What you'll do#
- Support daily office operations, including supplies, vendors, shipments, and workplace logistics.
- Process invoices, expenses, receipts, and other accounting records.
- Manage purchasing tasks such as quote collection, order placement, delivery tracking, and receiving.
- Assist with recruiting, onboarding, and maintaining employee records.
- Build and maintain internal trackers, checklists, and processes.
- Take ownership of operational problems and follow them through to completion.
- Adapt to other tasks as company priorities shift.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a college or university.
- A strong desire to learn and grow within a startup environment.
- An open, humble, and coachable mindset.
- A willingness to receive and act on direct feedback.
- Reliability and high attention to detail.
- Majors in Business Administration, Human Resources, or Operations Management are preferred.
Location & details#
- Term: Fall 2026.
- Location: On-site in Torrance, California, with expected travel to test sites in Mojave and the greater Los Angeles area.
- Employment: Part-time, temporary, and paid position.
- Note: U.S. citizenship is required due to the nature of U.S. government programs and export-control regulations. Visa sponsorship is not available.
