About the role#
The Senior Director of Student Accounts serves as a strategic leader responsible for the oversight of all student billing, collections, and customer service operations. Reporting to the Controller, this position manages the Student Accounts Office, including cashiering, payment plans, refunds, and compliance with federal, state, and university regulations. The role is integral to maintaining the fiscal integrity of student financial records and driving process improvements through technology to enhance the student experience.
What you'll do#
- Oversee the Student Accounts Office, including billing, cashiering, and regulatory compliance.
- Supervise the Student Accounts team to ensure accuracy and integrity in financial processes.
- Collaborate with the Financial Aid and Registrar's offices to manage student eligibility and enrollment status.
- Manage the university's PCI compliance program, student loan services, and general ledger reconciliation.
- Partner with University Information Services to maintain and enhance student financial systems.
What you'll need#
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in student accounts, bursar operations, or related financial services.
- Minimum of three years of experience in a supervisory or management role.
- Comprehensive understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and federal regulations governing student financial aid.
- Demonstrated ability to implement and manage complex financial or student information systems, such as Banner.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
