Generation West Virginia is seeking a Communications & Marketing Intern to assist in telling the stories of the organization's programs, participants, and partners. This role offers hands-on experience in nonprofit marketing, digital communications, and brand management. The intern will work remotely while supporting initiatives that connect young professionals with career opportunities and workforce training across the state.
What you'll do#
- Write engaging social media posts highlighting participant success stories, events, and organizational updates.
- Draft newsletters, blog posts, website content, and email communications.
- Create promotional materials for various programs and events.
- Design graphics using Canva or Adobe Creative Suite.
- Assist with the promotion of workshops, conferences, networking events, and Fellowship gatherings.
- Interview program participants and alumni to develop stories about program impact.
- Plan and schedule content across social media platforms and monitor engagement.
- Capture and edit photos and short-form videos for promotional campaigns.
- Assist with website updates and maintain consistent branding across digital channels.
- Track marketing performance metrics and prepare summary reports.
What you'll need#
- Current college student or recent graduate pursuing a degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, Graphic Design, Digital Media, or a related field.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Familiarity with social media platforms and content creation.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with a remote team.
- Experience using Canva and Google Workspace is preferred.
- Knowledge of WordPress, email marketing platforms, photography, or videography is a plus.
Location & details#
- Location: Remote (must live in West Virginia).
- Term: Fall 2026.
- Commitment: 20-30 hours per week.
- Compensation: $20 per hour.
- Travel: Occasional travel to events across the state may be required.
