As a Process Engineering Intern, you will help develop and refine processes for metal 3D printing systems. You will work alongside experienced engineers to study multi-physics behavior within the printing process, contributing to the development of next-generation manufacturing technology. This role involves collaborating with mechanical, software, and simulation teams to analyze data and improve printing technology through data-driven approaches.
What you'll do#
- Assist the Process Engineering team in developing a deep understanding of metal additive processes.
- Execute experiments and analyze data to improve metal additive processes.
- Perform post-build metrology measurements and analyze material properties.
- Assist in the development and implementation of tool qualification procedures.
- Analyze massive in-situ data sets to gain insight into the physical mechanisms of the printing process.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in material science, physics, or a similar engineering discipline.
- Experience with experimental design and statistical data analysis.
- Strong data analysis skills, with the ability to interpret information from large data sets.
- Proficiency in Python and/or MATLAB.
- Ability to work in ambiguous environments.
Location & details#
- Location: Los Angeles, California.
- Term: Fall 2026.
- Modality: Full-time, on-site (five days a week).
- Compensation: $30/hour for undergraduates, $32.50/hour for Master's students, and $35/hour for PhD students.
