Forbes Fellowship

About the role#

The Forbes Fellowship is a 12-month immersive training program designed for early-career business journalists. The program begins with a week-long business journalism bootcamp taught by editors, followed by four 3-month rotations through the newsroom. Fellows will develop skills in financial analysis, investigations, source development, and news reporting while working alongside veteran reporters.

What you'll do#

• Develop skills in pitching, reporting, and writing breaking news, trend pieces, and feature-length business stories.
• Work on wealth valuations and financial investigations focused on the world’s wealthiest people.
• Conduct research for list rankings, including gathering data and writing short profiles.
• Fact-check the Daily Cover Story for Forbes.com and magazine features.
• Collaborate with Forbes staff on special projects and assist in cultivating sources.

What you'll need#

• Recent college graduate (undergraduate or graduate) having completed your degree within the past 24 months.
• Degree in Journalism, Business Administration, or Communications.
• Demonstrated journalism experience, such as a major in the field, significant roles at a collegiate publication, or a previous journalism internship.
• Prior experience in fact-checking, reporting, writing, and editing.
• Strong interest in business and entrepreneurship with an understanding of basic financial terms and figures.
• Ability to interpret financial documents, multitask, and meet strict deadlines.
• Proficiency with publishing platforms, digital media technologies, and SEO best practices.

Location & details#

• Location: Jersey City, New Jersey.
• Work Modality: Hybrid, with a minimum of one in-person collaboration day per week at the Jersey City headquarters.
• Term: 12-month full-time fellowship.
• Compensation: $26.44 per hour.
