Engineering Intern

About the role#

Fluency is seeking an Engineering Intern for a 13-week program based in our San Francisco office. You will be placed into one of three tracks—Product Engineering, AI Engineering, or AI Platform Engineering—based on your skills and interests. Regardless of your track, you will be paired with a dedicated mentor and integrated into the engineering team, participating in standups, sprint planning, and technical discussions. You will complete a scoped project from design to launch, with a mid-point check-in and a final presentation to the team.

What you'll do#

• Ship production code starting in your first few weeks, supported by code reviews and mentorship from senior engineers.
• Own a specific project within your chosen track and see it through to completion.
• Contribute to team processes, including sprint planning and technical discussions.
• Deliver at least one concrete project milestone per month.
• Present your final work to the broader team at the end of the internship.

What you'll need#

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering.
• Solid programming fundamentals in at least one language; we work primarily in Python and TypeScript.
• Genuine curiosity about AI products and the role of LLMs in enterprise environments.
• Strong communication skills and a bias toward shipping code.
• Ability to work on-site at our San Francisco office at least 3 days per week.
