Summer Internship - Cybersecurity

About the role#

The Cybersecurity Intern will gain exposure to a working security program, working directly with the Application Security Engineer and Cybersecurity Analyst. This role focuses on identity, cloud security, endpoint protection, audits, and security tooling. You will be matched with work based on your skill level and given the opportunity to take ownership of small, well-scoped projects to build portfolio-worthy work.

What you'll do#

• Assist the cybersecurity team with day-to-day operations across identity, cloud, and endpoint security.
• Investigate security findings and contribute to the development of remediation plans.
• Support audit and compliance efforts through evidence gathering, documentation, and follow-ups.
• Maintain and update documentation for security tools, processes, and policies.
• Document your learning to support future team members.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in an undergraduate program in computer science, cybersecurity, information systems, or a related field.
• Foundational knowledge of security concepts including the CIA triad, common vulnerability classes, and basic networking.
• Proficiency in at least one scripting language, such as Python, JavaScript, or bash.
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure concepts, specifically AWS.
• Strong written communication skills for managing tickets, runbooks, and documentation.
• Ability to work independently to identify requirements and complete tasks.

Location & details#

• Term: Summer 2026.
• Work Modality: This is a hybrid position requiring a minimum of 3 days per week in the Waterloo, Ontario office.
• Employment Type: Full-time, paid internship.
