Accounting Co-op Student

About the role#

Financeit is seeking an Accounting Co-op Student to join the Finance team for the Fall 2026 term. This role offers hands-on experience within a consumer lending company, focusing on day-to-day accounting operations. We are looking for a student who is eager to learn, detail-oriented, and capable of managing priorities effectively.

What you'll do#

• Post daily journal entries and reconcile bank accounts and loan portfolios.
• Support the preparation of lender reporting.
• Assist with the full-cycle accounts payable process.
• Help with month-end close activities, including accruals, financial reporting, and ad hoc analysis.
• Maintain the capital assets ledger and continuity schedule.
• Assist with the annual audit and contribute to special projects focused on efficiency and cost savings.

What you'll need#

• Currently enrolled in a 3rd or 4th year university program in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
• Strong Excel skills, including proficiency with VLOOKUP, pivot tables, and SUMIF.
• A solid understanding of GAAP and day-to-day accounting principles.
• Working toward or planning to pursue a CPA designation.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with a focus on initiative and organization.
• Experience in audit, treasury, compliance, or accounting within financial services or e-commerce is considered an asset.

Location & details#

• Term: Fall 2026 (4 or 8-month options available).
• Location: Hybrid role with 2-3 days per week in the Toronto office.
• Compensation: $22 per hour.
• Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
