About the role#
EXL is seeking a US Tax Intern for the Summer 2026 term. This role supports the US Tax Team by assisting with federal, state, local, and international tax projects. The intern will work on-site, contributing to the testing of reports from a recently implemented ERP system and managing various tax-related administrative and analytical tasks.
What you'll do#
- Research state income and franchise tax return filing requirements for foreign disregarded and US domesticated entities.
- Document research results by preparing summaries and matrices.
- Prepare tax returns and forms using e-Forms tax software.
- Contact state and local taxing authorities to gather information and resolve issues.
- Monitor online state tax portal accounts and assist with logging federal, state, and local tax notices.
- Maintain filing status and progress trackers to support internal coordination.
- Prepare and update intercompany agreements and coordinate their legal review.
- Develop Excel-based tax workpapers and perform tax general ledger account analysis.
What you'll need#
- Current college student pursuing a major in business, finance, or accounting.
- Proficiency with MS Office and experience with computer technology.
- Familiarity with AI concepts.
- Strong technical research, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently as a self-motivator while meeting established deadlines.
- A collaborative mindset and willingness to learn.
