About the role#
The ELCA Youth Gathering Intern will provide administrative, logistical, and coordination support for the 2027 ELCA Youth Gathering and related events. This part-time, hourly internship offers a learning opportunity that includes access to an ELCA Coaching Network coach. The role begins September 8, 2026, and concludes October 31, 2027.
What you'll do#
- Provide general registration support to congregations, special guests, and team members.
- Advise Gathering staff and team leaders on events or decisions that may have a significant impact on marginalized populations.
- Provide administrative and coordination support for DEIA-related memorial actions.
- Assist with building and maintaining online courses.
- Respond to inquiries via inbox and phone and assist team members with expense reporting.
- Attend required planning meetings and support onsite logistics during events.
- Represent the ELCA Youth Gathering locally and help foster community engagement in the Minneapolis area.
- Be physically present in Minneapolis to support the execution of the 2027 ELCA Youth Gathering, MYLE, the tAble, and the Young Adult Gathering from June 22 – July 3, 2027.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a college or university in youth ministry, nonprofit management, events, communications, or a related field.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to support a team of volunteers.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility, and anti-racism.
- Comfort and skill with public speaking.
- Lived experience and familiarity with Minneapolis, specifically regarding community-based organizations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite; willingness to learn financial platforms.
- A valid driver's license for frequent travel by car within Minneapolis.
Location & details#
- This is a remote position that requires the intern to be based in or around Minneapolis, Minnesota.
- This is a part-time, hourly internship paying $17.00 per hour.
