INTERN-GRID - DISTRIBUTION SYSTEMS

About the role#

El Paso Electric Company is seeking an Engineering Intern to join the Distribution Systems department. This role provides technical and analytical support to help maintain distribution system operations and improve customer service. Interns will work directly with engineers to assist in data management, field verification, and reporting tasks.

What you'll do#

• Assist in the preparation of weekly and monthly reports and spreadsheets.
• Research outage data related to customer concerns and prepare responses.
• Support engineers in verifying distribution system equipment locations and status through field visits.
• Assist in data collection, data entry, and record keeping for maintenance programs.
• Help maintain, update, and revise departmental databases and the distribution switch numbering book.
• Assist in reviewing distributed generation applications and compiling data for technical studies.
• Comply with all company policies, safety standards, and environmental regulations.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment as a full-time student in an Electrical Engineering program at an accredited college or university.
• Classification as a Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or Graduate student.
• Minimum overall G.P.A. of 3.0 or above.
• Proficiency with personal computers and software including Word, Excel, and Access.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and work effectively with team members and the public.
