ECHO is seeking a STEM Education Intern for the Fall 2026 semester to join the Public Programs Team. This position focuses on facilitating hands-on science, technology, engineering, and math activities for diverse audiences. Interns will work directly with museum guests, utilizing the Engineering Design Process to help visitors develop their science identity through experiments. This is an on-site, part-time role requiring 18 hours of work per week.
What you'll do#
- Facilitate interactive educational experiences for visitors of all ages.
- Educate guests on STEM concepts and the Engineering Design Process.
- Work with full-time staff to prepare materials and activities for public events.
- Perform daily preparation and reset of exhibit spaces.
- Maintain cleanliness of high-contact surfaces during operating hours.
- Deliver high-quality customer service to a diverse range of museum guests.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit or completion of a degree in a Science or Education field, including Environmental Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Psychology, Communications, Nursing, or Public Health.
- Demonstrated interest in informal STEM education.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a changing environment.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Effective communication skills and a desire to engage with guests of various backgrounds.
Location & details#
- Location: Burlington, Vermont.
- Term: September to December 2026.
- Commitment: 18 hours per week, including a minimum of 4 hours on either Saturday or Sunday.
- Compensation: This is a paid internship.
