Radiographer "Student" Assistant

About the role#

The Radiographer Student Assistant works under the direct supervision of registered radiographers to support technical staff during radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures. This role is essential for maintaining patient safety and workflow efficiency within the radiology department.

What you'll do#

• Assist with radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures, including portable bedside exams.
• Help position and immobilize patients for diagnostic procedures.
• Transport patients to and from the radiology department using wheelchairs or stretchers, ensuring correct patient identification.
• Assist with moving patients to and from exam tables.
• Process images into PACS and clean cassettes using germicidal solutions.
• Communicate with radiologists, nursing units, and the emergency department via telephone and in person.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to hospital policies and ethical guidelines.

What you'll need#

• Currently enrolled in an AA degree program in Radiologic Technology.
• Completion of at least 6 months of clinical applications in a hospital setting.
• Skills and knowledge base equivalent to the completion of the first year of formal education in an approved school of radiologic technology.
• Valid CPR certification.
