The Build Up Internship is a paid, full-time summer program designed for high school students interested in construction management. Interns work alongside professional project teams on active commercial construction jobsites to gain hands-on experience in how large-scale buildings are planned, coordinated, and constructed. This 8-week program focuses on career exploration, professional skill development, and project-based learning.
What you'll do#
Under the guidance of a mentor team, you will work 35–40 hours per week on an active jobsite. Responsibilities include:
- Assisting with subcontractor coordination and communication.
- Supporting document control and project tracking.
- Participating in quality inspections and site walks.
- Learning jobsite safety practices and participating in safety training.
- Helping update schedules, site plans, and project documentation.
- Completing entry-level construction management assignments.
What you'll need#
- Status as a rising high school junior or senior, or a May graduate.
- Family income below the HUD Median Family Income (MFI) for your county.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States.
- Demonstrated interest in construction, engineering, or the built environment.
- Ability to commit to the 8-week internship duration for up to 40 hours per week.
- Ability to commute to a jobsite daily.
