The Materials Engineering Lab Intern will manage small engineering projects and support Materials Engineers and Scientists on larger initiatives. This role involves conducting hands-on testing, analyzing data, and preparing summary reports to support the development of performance-critical components.
What you'll do#
- Assist Materials Engineers and Scientists in executing test programs.
- Conduct materials tests, including tensile, microscopy, thermal characterization, and wear testing, under supervision.
- Support the production and planning of test samples, including CNC machining tasks.
- Collect, organize, and present test data.
- Take accountability for the successful completion of assigned materials engineering projects.
What you'll need#
- Coursework in Materials or Mechanical Engineering, or a technical degree in a relevant field (Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Biomedical, Physics, or Environmental Engineering).
- Basic knowledge of 3D modeling and CNC programming.
- Proficiency with MS Office products.
- Willingness to work in a laboratory environment, including standing, lifting up to 30 lbs, and adhering to PPE requirements.
- Previous materials testing and lab experience is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail, communication skills, and an understanding of engineering principles.
