About the role#
DILFO is seeking a VDC Co-op Student to join the Virtual Design and Construction team in Ottawa. This is a full-time, paid position for the Fall 2026 term. You will assist with Revit modeling, drawing preparation, and project coordination tasks related to the fabrication and installation of mechanical systems. This role provides an opportunity to gain experience on active construction projects while learning industry standards and collaboration practices.
What you'll do#
- Assist with preparing Revit project files, including creating views, sheets, and basic annotations.
- Support VDC Detailers with model navigation, view setup, and documentation tasks.
- Apply basic tags, dimensions, and callouts under supervision.
- Help organize and prepare drawing packages for internal review and site teams.
- Perform basic quality checks, such as verifying naming conventions and template usage.
- Support simple spool breakdown tasks and component identification within models.
- Maintain organized digital files and follow established VDC standards.
- Participate in team meetings, learning sessions, and project reviews.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a post-secondary program, such as Architectural Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or Building Systems Technology.
- Participation in a recognized co-op program.
- Exposure to Revit, AutoCAD, or similar software through academic coursework.
- A basic understanding of drafting concepts and digital modeling workflows.
- An interest in HVAC, mechanical systems, or construction technology.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
