About the role#
As an Accounting Intern, you will support the finance operations of the foundation. This position provides exposure to a small accounting team with established procedures and audit controls. You will assist with accounts payable and month-end processes while working in a collaborative environment. This is a paid, contract position running from August 24, 2026, to December 18, 2026, at 30 hours per week.
What you'll do#
- Support accounts payable and out of pocket expense processes, including vendor setup and contract review.
- Verify bank information with new vendors and manage data entry in Plooto.
- Assist with the monthly credit card process, including reviewing travel forms and invoices against expense policies.
- Prepare journal entries and assist with account reconciliations.
- Manage the accounting inbox and support the weekly bank deposit process in the office.
- Digitize and classify historical finance and administrative records onto SharePoint.
- Update process documentation and assist with ad-hoc projects as needed.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a relevant Canadian post-secondary institution, specifically in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
- Completion of at least the first 50% of an undergraduate program, or enrollment in a graduate-level program.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Commitment to equity, accessibility, reconciliation, and sustainability.
- Previous accounting experience and French language skills are considered assets.
- Ability to meet all hiring requirements established by the Riipen FuturePath program.
Location & details#
- This position is based in Vancouver, British Columbia.
- The role is hybrid, requiring two days per week in the office.
- Working hours are Monday through Thursday.
