About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience in the maintenance and operation of facility systems, machine shops, and testing laboratories. You will work with preventative maintenance programs, equipment calibration, and facility inspections. The role is designed for students looking to apply classroom knowledge in a professional setting while developing technical and project coordination skills.
What you'll do#
- Perform and document preventative maintenance on machine shop equipment, testing equipment, and facility systems.
- Conduct inspections of buildings, laboratories, and equipment to identify maintenance needs, safety concerns, and operational issues.
- Maintain accurate records, inspection reports, equipment logs, and work order documentation using Jira.
- Create, update, and close work orders in maintenance tracking systems.
- Coordinate preventative maintenance schedules and assist in tracking equipment service intervals.
- Schedule site visits with external vendors and contractors for repairs and facility improvements.
- Monitor equipment conditions and notify management regarding necessary parts or outside services.
- Maintain tools and workspaces in a clean and safe condition while collaborating with engineering and operations personnel.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an Associate's program or higher from an accredited college or university (or graduation within one year of the start date).
- Majors in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, or Civil Engineering, or Business Administration.
- Practical experience performing routine preventative maintenance activities.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work safely and follow established procedures.
